Horror Minix Figures Proves: Tiny Collectibles May Be A Bit Creepy
This happens almost every time I visit a toy store with my wife or children. I stop before a collectibles stand and scan it from all sides, like a woman in a clothing store during a sale. “Are you coming?” someone around me asks. I nod in response, something vague, with a glazed look that more closely resembles a person possessed by a demon. “Yeah, wait a minute. I’m just checking something,” I look down. A few minutes later, I return with the research findings, which mainly relate to the million-dollar question (or, more precisely, a few dozen dollars): How many characters did I find from the horror world? Usually, in physical stores, it’s just a few out of a wide selection (because not all kids like scary things, for some reason), but the catalog is much broader in the online stores.
The little Minix figurines, a popular collector’s item in recent years, are such products. Whenever I come across these types of tiny dolls in the store, I spend a few minutes trying to locate – among all the football players and characters from TV series – some that come from scary movies and TV series.
The good news is that there are quite a few very good-looking horror Minix figures, including the main characters of the hit series “Wednesday” and “Stranger Things,” famous icons like Pennywise or Hannibal Lecter, and several characters who have joined the horror lexicon in recent decades (for example, the Nun). The catalog is far from infinite, but you can create a fabulous collection.
What Are The Minix Figures?
Minix are tiny collectible dolls, usually about 10-15 cm tall (although there are some larger versions), which some would consider collectible figurines.
No matter what you call them, they have several unique characteristics. The figures usually offer a small body with a relatively enlarged head, while the eyes also tend to be relatively large. The figures are made of a combination of materials, usually rigid vinyl with softer materials. They stand out for their precise coloring, including the most minor details of the character’s “DNA.”
Minix says that they study in depth the personality and appearance of each figurine to design the “true soul and correct appearance of each character.” The design begins with a hand sketch, combined with 3D simulation, after which the drawings are “brought to life” with advanced 3D technology. Production begins after the steel models are ready, with the central part of the process being the coloring.
Like other hot collectibles we reviewed on the site, such as scary Funko Pops or Bobble Heads, the general look is “cute,” but it takes on a particular twist when discussing horror figures. The division here is into relatively limited editions, which tend to be numbered (that is, each unit comes with a unique serial number). Some versions combine several figures from one series, which can offer a significant discount compared to the possibility of buying each figure separately.
Who Can Collect Minix Figurines?
Minix dolls can be a great collector’s item for beginners and more advanced collectors. Those who are taking their first steps in the world of collecting can enjoy a relatively wide variety of figures (as we will see below), relatively high availability (mainly online, but also in physical stores), and the fact that the prices of each figure are definitely within reasonable limits.
More experienced collectors will also benefit from the fact that there are also limited editions, some of which are more prestigious and expensive, such as golden, transparent, or signed figures. As a result, you can put together a nice collection at home or in the office while also aiming to find the rarer figures. There are also figures whose value increases over time, especially the limited editions of their kind, so some buyers do so for investment purposes or, if you prefer, to make a profit.
The fact that these are small figures makes their storage very simple, whether you want to keep them in the packaging or take them out.
Which Minix Collectible Figurines Are There?
Minix figures are connected to Pop Culture, as seen in their design, chosen characters, and target audience. Minix’s extensive and constantly updated catalog features characters from worlds such as cinema, television, comics, music, sports, and more, with some of the hottest items being:
- Minix Soccer Figures – The list of Minix soccer figures is pretty wild. You will find the most prominent names of football players, such as Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Diego Armando Maradona, Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and others.
In some cases, the figures still come with no current outfits, i.e., from the previous teams of the same players (for example, Messi, Mbappe, or Neymar in the Paris Saint-Germain uniform).
Some figures are of soccer players who are a little less known to the broad public, like Marquinhos, İlkay Gündoğan, Jamal Musiala, Luis Diaz, or Marco Asensio. There are also figures of players from less popular teams like Betis, Valencia, and Athletic Bilbao. - Minix Music Figures – Minix offers figurines of legendary musicians, including Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, Elton John, and members of the rock band “Kiss,” which, as you know, are dressed like characters from a Rob Zombie horror film.
- Minix collectible statues of popular Spanish heist crime drama “Money Heist” (known originally as “La Maison du Papel,”) such as Berlin, Helsinki, or Tokyo.
- Characters from the DC Cinematic Universe – Batman, Superman, The Joker and Harley Quinn
- Minix figures of historical characters, such as Leonardo da Vinci or Queen Elizabeth
- Minix Harry Potter Figures – Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione, and Professor Snape from the series of books and films about the most famous wizard in the world
- Lord of the Rings Minix figures, in the likes of Gandalf, Frodo, Aragon, and, of course, Gollum
- Scott from the hit series “Teen Wolf,” about a high school student bitten by a werewolf
- Minix dolls from the Anime world, such as Naruto (Sasuke, Shippuden, Sakura, and others) or Block Luke
- Daenerys “Storm Fruit” Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) from “Game of Thrones”
- Three versions of Rambo, played by Sylvester Stallone
- Rocky Minix Figures, including Rocky Balboa, are in several versions, including Apollo Grid, Ivan Drago, and others. There is also a pack of 12 figures from the franchise
- Minix figures from “Breaking Bad” and the spin-off series “Better Call Saul,” such as Walter White, Saul, Jesse, and others. Here, too, you can find a box with a dozen characters
- Characters from “The Witcher,” such as Geralt and Siri (in several versions), Yennefer Of Vengerberg, and others
- Sheldon and Penny from “The Big Bang Theory”
- Characters from “Cobra Kai,” the spin-off series of “The Karate Kid”
- Snake (Kurt Russell) from John Carpenter’s underrated “Escape from New York”
Even if this is not a vast and endless catalog like Funko Pop figures, you can still find enough models to assemble your collection.
Horror Minix Figures Collection
Finally, we’ve come to the most relevant question on our site: What are the characters from Minix’s rather extensive catalog that connect to the world of horror? Even if many classic horror icon figures are missing – which may change in the future – we’ve found some very impressive versions.
Wednesday Addams Minix Figures
Collectible Wednesday Addams figurines are in high demand today, thanks to the hit Netflix series that will soon be in its second season.
Luckily, We’ve found some cool versions of Minix of Wednesday Addams:
- A Minix doll of Wednesday herself, in the latest representation of Jenna Ortega, wearing her school uniform, holding a book and a Thing on her shoulder
- A Minix figurine that corresponds with that iconic Wednesday dance scene. So it’s true that this doll can’t be moved, like some of the action figures, but it’s still an excellent addition for fans of the series
- Enid – Wednesday’s dorm roommate and best friend
- Bianca Barclay, who starts as Wednesday’s rival but later collaborates with her, trying to solve the mysteries of Nevermore Academy
- Goody Addams, Wednesday’s estranged family member, sets out to fight discrimination against those defined as “outcasts.”
- A set that includes four Wednesday figures
- Two giant (1.2 meters!) Wednesday figures, according to the designs we mentioned here
Stranger Things Minix Figures
We continue with another hit series by Netflix, “Stranger Things”. The series, which started in 2016, has included four super successful seasons and will return in the future for a fifth and final season.
We have found quite a few characters from the series as of this writing:
- Eleven, which also comes in a 1.2-meter-tall version
- Will
- Mike
- Eddie
- Lucas
- Max
- Dustin
- Sheriff Hopper
- Steve
- Robin Buckley
- Packs that combine four characters from a wide variety
Figures From The Conjuring Universe
Considering that the “The Conjuring” franchise is the most successful in the history of horror films, the fact that there are also Minix characters based on it is anything but surprising.
As of the current catalog, there are two characters here, but it will likely grow in the future:
- The Nun, who got two spin-off films (which, to be honest, didn’t express the character’s creepy potential. But that’s for another article)
- The Crooked Man, who managed to stand out so much in “The Conjuring 2” that there was a desire to produce a spin-off film starring him. As of now, this project has been canceled, but we still have a great character here, which could also be a collector’s item
Pennywise Minix Doll
Pennywise is another name that needs no introduction to horror fans, indeed, after the “It” films from 2017 and 2019 that were hysterical box office successes (“It 2”, as of now, is the highest-grossing horror film ever).
The 12 cm tall Pennywise minifigure is inspired by the latest look, namely Bill Skarsgård’s character. He is dressed in clown clothes and has accurate makeup (including the blood streaks around his eyes), smiles his creepy smile, and holds Georgie’s boat in his hand.
Hannibal Lecter Minix
Fortunately, we found a few more horror characters besides the cast of the hit series mentioned above. Item number 103 in the “Movies” series is the iconic Hannibal Lecter figurine, played by Anthony Hopkins in “The Silence of the Lambs,” “Red Dragon,” and more.
From our impression, the character’s design is “sane” compared to what we know, so you won’t see him with the famous bridle, orange hospital gown, or blood around his mouth. On the other hand, the psychiatrist’s menacing but official appearance, along with his blood-curdling gaze, is what essentially made the character so iconic.
Jumbo The Clown From “Killer Klowns From Outer Space”
If you like scary clowns, you’ll be happy to hear about the Jumbo figurine from “Killer Klowns From Outer Space,” the 1988 horror comedy that has long since become a cult film about cruel aliens who come to Earth in the form of clowns, kidnap people, and kill them.
Jumbo is one of the main villains here, perhaps alongside Slim. He is the one most identified with the film, even though he is the one who dies first (spoiler!). He is said to have the most screen time of any of the clowns in the film, which explains why his choice for the role of the Minix figurine was a natural fit.
Where Can You Buy Minix Dolls?
Minix dolls are available in a wide variety of toy stores across the globe. The price is usually around tens of dollars as of writing this, but you can find bargains occasionally. In addition, as mentioned, there is the option to buy packs with several figures, which can reduce the price of each one.
You can buy the Minix dolls easily online, which gives you cheaper prices and, most importantly, allows you to enjoy a wider variety. Among the major international sites where we found Minx figures, we can mention:
