Lego Horror Sets That’ll Make You Build Your Screams
Lego is a very popular construction toy, based on connecting plastic parts with knots and holes to create different objects and shapes. This is one of the classic childhood games, so in every home of an average family with kids, you’ll find at least a few Lego boxes. Lego develops imagination and creativity, allows working on motor skills, and provides quite a bit of fun for parents and children. The good news is that there are some scary Lego horror sets, some of which are (perhaps) for adults only. Or at least children accompanied by an adult.
We reviewed some of the most recommended Lego horror sets. In some cases, these are games based on franchises – mainly horror movies or series. Others contain real or fictional objects we define as “scary”. Either way, enjoyment is guaranteed.
Meet Some Special Lego Horror Sets
Lego Hidden Side Mystery Castle
If you’re looking for a ghost lego set with a twist, you should check this version out. LEGO Hidden Side takes place in a fictional town called Newbury, haunted by ghosts. You’ll find 1,305 pieces here, including children’s figures, ghost hunters, and ghosts. The main object is a huge and monstrous castle, literally, with a variety of customization options and cool features such as rotating parts or traps you can activate.
The main innovation here, which explains why this is such a cool Lego horror set, is the Augmented Reality (AR) integration. The game comes with an app that brings the castle to life with a smartphone or tablet. You can choose whether you wanna be a ghost hunter or a ghost while playing alone or with other participants. After you install the application, choose characters and take a picture of the castle, you’ll be able to see virtual objects integrated into the castle you have built and perform various tasks. Success will allow you to “buy” ghosts, monsters, and other surprises.
If you liked the idea, we recommend you try other products in the Lego Hidden Side series. For example, horror fans can build and animate a creepy cemetery, a shipwreck, a ghost laboratory, a dark lighthouse, a haunted house, and other surprises.
Lego Monster Fighters Haunted House
Lego Monster Fighters Haunted House was launched in 2012, and in our opinion, it is one of the impressive (and expensive) in the Lego horror sets area. The game, for all its 2,064 parts, will allow you to build a horror castle with everything around it.
First, thanks to a large number of parts, there is attention to the smallest details: for example, the traditional boards on the windows or partially broken windows, the broken stones at the entrance to the house, the textures on each side of the huge house, “decorative” items such as a spider’s web, a bowl with a human heart, pictures ( Frankenstein, mummy, zombie, and others) and more.
The coolest thing in this Lego horror set is that you can open the house to the sides and get the different rooms in it, each room invites you to play: kitchen, study room, music room, balcony, bedroom, and others. There are also characters from the horror repertoire, which include two glowing ghosts, a vampire and the vampire’s wife, a zombie chef, and a butler.
Lego Stranger Things Upside Down
The super hit series “Stranger Things” by Netflix includes countless merchandising. After reviewing the Monopoly based on the series, it comes with Lego parts that allow you to experience the real world, the upside down parallel world, and everything in between. Lego Stranger Things game contains 2,287 plastic parts and allows you to construct the Byers’ house and the reverse dimension. The game offers an extremely high level of detail, with impressive dimensions of about 32 cm in length and 44 cm in height.
Lego Stranger Things set includes eight characters from the series and some familiar objects many fans will be happy to find, such as the illuminated letter wall in the living room, the police car with the opening roof of Police Inspector Hopper, and, of course, Will’s bedroom. You can play here for hours, in any of the directions, while recreating scenes from the series. Great lego horror set in our opinion!
Lego Venom Head
In recent years, we see that the boundaries between Marvel’s bombastic comic book films (which by definition mostly belong to the world of fantasy-action) and the world of horror are becoming blurred in some cases. The movie “Venom”, a spin-off of Spider-Man, also had quite a few touches of horror. That’s why we decided to include in the current review the official Venom Lego, intended mainly for adults.
As part of Lego Venom, you can build the rather threatening alien figure, with the long teeth and the curved tongue, to get a beautiful statue for your room, home, or office. See our full review here.
Lego Frankenstein Brickheadz
If your hobby is assembling your favorite horror characters, you should also try the Frankenstein Lego horror set, which according to the developers is intended for ages 10 and up. Frankenstin Lego is part of Lego Brickheadz series, which includes, among others, familiar characters from “Star Wars”, “Harry Potter”, “Toy Story” and more. Alongside unbranded but frightening models of ghosts, vampires, and scarecrows.
Frankenstein’s model (or actually – Frankenstein’s monster. But that’s another story) consists of 108 parts, with a low to medium level of difficulty, so it is suitable for the young, the inexperienced, or the impatient. At the end of the building process, you will get an impressive model with a height of about 9 cm.
