“Okay, it’s all on me then. I must do the opposite of what you’ve seen in horror movies and save the day,” I told myself because, in horror movies, we have to talk to ourselves so that the audience understands what we’re thinking. Within seconds, I had jumped on Ghostface and punched him in the head. This blow made him scream in a high-pitched voice, which was somehow feminine. “Not in my movie!” I said and grabbed Ghostface. “I’ve stopped you, you reflexive serial killer with a distorted voice! Let’s see who you are this time around!”.
When I took off Ghostface’s mask, and after throwing an annoying boy who dared to shout, “Who is this? Who is this?” into the nearby sewer, I saw a young girl, maybe in her twenties, with a confused and angry look in front of me. One of her hands made an obscene gesture, and the other held the hunting knife. “What the hell are you doing?” she said, kicking my private parts with her black shoe. “It’s Halloween today! I’m still allowed to walk around the street wearing the Scream costume”, she said. “Right, Mr. Policeman?” she asked the boy in the police uniform. He mumbled something indistinct and went back to looking at his phone screen.
I ran away in panic as if a serial killer was chasing me.

Over several decades and five more films (and “Scream 7” is already on the way!) later, and the franchise has become one of the favorites among slasher fans. Not only because of the creative murders, the self-aware humor (sometimes too much), and the story that accompanies us for several generations, but mainly since each film has the central mystery – who exactly is the killer under the Ghostface mask, or as we have seen in some of the movie: some killers.
You can clearly define Ghostface as a horror icon, even though it is just a costume, with each film’s person under the mask being different. This is, of course, in contrast to most other villains who remain more or less constant, even if there are changes in their character over the years (think, for example, of Pennywise, played by Tim Carrey, compared to the latest representation by Bill Skarsgård).
Ghostface’s appearance, and accordingly, the Scream costume, has remained more or less similar throughout the films, even if there are some noticeable changes. The main characteristics are:

Comparatively, since 2021, the demand for costumes has been much higher than in the previous decade because, since the fourth film in 2011, there has been more than a decade without a “Scream” film. When talk of rebooting the series began, with the fifth film, the costumes became a huge hit again.
The Scream costume is a great choice, especially (but not only) for horror fans. It is one of the most recognizable characters in the horror arsenal, and it is high on the list of familiar icons such as Freddy Krueger, Pennywise, Chucky, and Michael Myers (each of whom has many versions of costumes). The costume is relatively easy to wear because you can remove and put it on very quickly, and unlike some other costumes, it does not require appropriate makeup. For the simple reason that, in most cases, the face is covered with a matching mask, so it is possible to be mistaken and think that anyone who wears it is a potential serial killer (oops).

The Scream costumes for adults include a division between men and women, but the differences are minor and depend mainly on size or cut. After all, even when you saw the Scream movies, you couldn’t tell before the big revelation whether it was a man or a woman, right?

However, with some imagination, you can combine the mask with some revealing performance, as I’ve seen quite a few women in the horror cosplay version do on social media or upload to YouTube.
Scream Costumes For Kids
Are your children too young to see “The Scream”? Even if they are – too bad – you can choose a costume for them, but they may not understand precisely what’s behind it. For example, the writer of these lines recently saw a Scream costume in one of the biggest toy chains, inscribed “Ghost costume” (!) on its bag. Someone at this toy chain needs to watch more horror movies.
The Scream costumes for children come in several versions, and we didn’t see too many differences between boys and girls (which is an advantage that most other horror costumes don’t have). Similar to adult costumes, you can find, for example, glowing, bloody, patriotic, pumpkin-style, or inflatable costumes, although the supply of these unique costumes is somewhat limited.
It is possible that the costumes you want will not be available to you due to limited production and high demand, so we recommend looking for the costume well in advance.
Ghostface Costume For Dogs
In quite a few “Scream” films, we found that the killer is a person who is very close to the murderer or even to the main heroines (Sidney Prescott, and in the later films, also the Carpenter sisters). So why not let the killer be your best friend this time?
We were happy to discover some very cool versions of the Scream costume for a dog (or other pets), and you can add them to your family costume.
The first version, turning your dog into a killer, includes a black jumpsuit or robe with the inscription “Ghostface.” The hands are spread wide, with the right hand “holding” a knife. At the top, you will find a small Ghostface mask with the dog’s face exposed so that you (and probably the costume) can remain calm so that it will not kill you.
Another Scream costume for dogs , no less remarkable, will allow your dog to maintain most of his appearance – when Ghostface rides on top of him. The costume is a kind of black saddle that is put on the pet in a way that looks comfortable, also here with the inscription “Ghostface.”
At the top of the garment, you will find a smaller version of Ghostface holding a knife with blood. From our impression, this is a very comfortable costume that comes in several sizes.

Always pay attention to what comes with the costume and what involves an additional fee or requires a separate purchase. Some people buy a costume based on pictures they find online, but only upon purchase do they discover that a particular item in the image is not part of the costume but is sold separately – which can be problematic and frustrating, especially if you wait until the last minute.
The significant websites always include a description of the costume’s list of items and possible add-ons, and it’s essential to know in advance what you’re paying for and what you should buy separately.
