Alexandra Daddario Horror Movies: More Than A Eye Candy
Sometime in 2013, I took part in a magazine writing course as part of my journalism studies. As someone who always likes to write about what he likes, I made an article about the famous horror franchise “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” one of the founding fathers of slashers, which joined our world in 1974. The actual reason was the release of the new movie in the series, “Texas Chainsaw 3D”. I researched the origins of the films, the existing or non-existent connection to the serial killer Ed Ginn, thr social criticism (among other things about capitalism and the disintegration of the American family), and also about a relatively unknown actress at the time – at least for me – named Alexandra Daddario. While watching the movie, she caught my attention at the leading rule. True, mainly due to her unimaginable beauty, but also since I thought maybe a new “Final Girl” was born here, or whatever you call an actress who makes a lot of horror films and plays the role of the protagonist in them.
About a decade has passed since then, and I wanted to check whether the promise of Alexandra Daddario has been fulfilled for fans of the genre. So whay does she offer, and which Alexandra Daddario horror movie is the best?
Who is Alexandra Daddario?
Alexandra Daddario was born on March 16, 1986, in New York City, New York, to Christian parents of Italian, Hungarian, British, and Czechoslovakian descent. She grew up in Manhattan and studied between school at Brierley School for Girls and a vocational school for children, primarily designed for those who dream of being actors and actresses. In interviews, she later said she dreamed of being an actress since the age of 11, roughly at the same time as a teenage girl’s dreams of boys. “I went to an all-girls school for part of high school, and the idea of boys was amazing to me. Like, all I ever wanted to do was kiss boys and be around boys.”
Daddario played her first role at 16 in the soap opera “All My Children.” Then came a small part in an insignificant horror film called “The Attic,” and later a role that opened her door to the world of cinema: the role of Annabeth Chase, Percy Jackson’s girlfriend, in “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief” from 2010 and after Then also later “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters” (2013).
Since then, her career has included appearances in films of all genres, including quite central roles in several blockbusters. She played The Rock’s daughter in the blockbuster disaster film “San Andress” (2015), and a few years later, she also played alongside him in “Baywatch” (2017), in which she fulfilled the wet dream of quite a few men with some revealing swimwear.
We have seen her in several romantic comedies, such as a supporting role alongside Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis in “Hall Pass” (2011), or more central parts in the terrible “The Layover” (2017) alongside Kate Upton, “When We First Met” (2018) Alongside Adam Devine about a man who meets a girl at a Halloween party, finds out a few years later that she’s engaged and uses a time machine to change the past for him, and the comedy of errors “Can You Keep A Secret?”(2019), which is very likable – yes, I watch comedies from time to time Romance with my wife – in which she played a junior marketing worker at a company who flies alongside an unknown guy, tells him her secrets when she thinks the plane is about to crash and quickly discovers that that guy is the CEO of the company and later also the object of her love.
THESE Blue Eyes: Alexandra Daddario Eyes Color
It is impossible to talk about Alexandra Daddario and not refer to her opening physical data. We mean, first of all, this perfect pair of…eyes. The truth is that it’s hard to remain indifferent to the unique light blue color and the big eyes, contrasted to her dark black hair. So say beautiful eyes can kill you. Her Eyes, in my opinion, can make a horror slasher franchise.
These eyes drew attention to them almost exclusively in the Imagine Dragons music video for the hit “Radioactive,” in which Daddrio was the main character. The clip presented a strange story about villains who abuse dolls until Daddario frees one of them to rebel and free the captive band members at the end of the plot – or at least something like that. Daddario obviously didn’t speak in the clip, but her prominent blue eyes and a smile did the trick.
So are Alexandra Daddario eyes real? Over the years, much has been written and spoken about Daddario’s eyes. Many wondered if they were natural or a product of contact lenses. Daddario herself noted that her eyes have a unique shade naturally, which also runs in her family (according to her, people still talk about her late grandfather’s eyes). Daddario mentioned on another occasion that she likes to highlight her eyes with makeup, such as mascara, eyeliner, and other products that I have no idea what they do. She is attracted to natural, simple, and not-too-massive makeup.
Alexandra Daddario’s body is an integral part of the story. Over the years, many consider her as the “Real Wonder Woman”. From checking the Google search data, including ten of thousands searches per month of terms like “Alexandra Daddario Boobs” or “Alexandra Daddario Naked”, I realized some interest in her breast size and whether they are real. In the writer’s opinion of these lines, this is a private issue that does not require occupation. Moreover, we have yet to find an unequivocal answer to the question.
Either way, Daddario herself doesn’t seem to mind exposing her body if the circumstances call for it, as in the case of the full frontal scene in “True Detective,” as a court reporter and a young femme fatale in a relationship with detective Woody Harrelson. Alexandra Daddario nude scenes were on of the sexiest ones in TV in recent years, and she said they changed her career. “it was a huge challenge for me, and I saw it as a good challenge. I saw it as an interesting challenge,” Daddario said in an MTV interview. “I really wanted to be part of the show, and I understood why the nudity and all of that was required of the character…. The character is really different from anything that I’ve done before. The nudity was just part of that.”
Daddario seems very secure about her body, and it’s easy to understand why. She showed self-awareness and a great sense of humor in a tweet that broke the Internet in response to a report that the President of the United States at the time, Barack Obama, ordered the first season of “True Detective.” She tweeted: “The president has seen my boobs”.

But we didn’t come here to talk about other genres, nor Alexandra Daddario’s beautiful eyes and perfect body. She’s not a bad actress at all; she has done some very likable horror roles. She once said that she is a “theatre geek” who loved fantasy books (including Harry Potter) as a child, and, in our context – “is easily influenced by horror films and reacts strongly to them.” In another interview, she said: “I like doing horror films. I think they helped me as an actress because the films make you run, scream, cry for a long time, and do ridiculous things in front of strangers. In a way, you break your boundaries and can’t be confused.”
Critics like her performances in the horror genre, even if their opinions of the significant films she has done are, shall we say, not very positive. We will likely not see her waving the Oscar statuette someday, certainly not in horror films, but she has talent, charisma, and a sense of humor. In many films, the bottom line of many reviews was that the film itself is terrible, but it does have one bright spot in the character of Alexandra Daddario. Some have described her as a “Final Girl” and “Scream Queen”, which explains her place on our site.
The Attic (2007)
Starting with the first Alexandra Daddario horror movies, and probably her worst one yet. In “The Attic,” she played Eva Strauss, a young woman who died mysteriously in the attic of a haunted house. It’s a minor movie, with only about 2,000 ratings on IMDB (I’m among them!), which justifies its low score (3.4 out of 10). It’s about a family that moves into a house and experiences supernatural events, which you probably haven’t seen in any horror movie ever. Daddario appears in the film’s opening scene in a rather sensual bath scene interrupted when she hears noises, gets dressed, goes out into the woods, and is killed there strangely.
She will return in several cases later in the film as a ghost that haunts the main character, who surprisingly is played by the talented Elisabeth Moss (“Mad Men,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and in our context, mainly “The Invisible Man” and “Us”), which we also do not know Exactly what did she do in this movie.
We would also ask how exactly the horror director Mary Lambert, who directed the excellent “Pet Cemetery” according to Stephen King and its sequel, is responsible for this product, but then she had quite a few ridiculous failures like “Urban Legend: Bloody Mary” (damn , am I the only one who watches these movies?) and “Mega Python vs. Gatoroid”. I haven’t seen this movie, but the expectations are not too high for a film that shows a fight between snakes and giant crocodiles, or something like that, starring two pop stars from the 80s.
Bereavement (2010)
We continue with a better movie called “Bereavement,” which turns out to be a prequel to a film called “Malevonence” from 2003 (don’t confuse it with “Malevonent,” with Florence Pugh, from 2018). In “Bereavement,” Daddario plays Allison Miller, a teenage girl who discovers that her cousin Charles (Sebastian Stan) has imprisoned in a slaughterhouse abandoned by a boy named Martin, who suffers from a congenital lack of pain sensation syndrome. Charles is a serial killer, and when Allison discovers it, she goes into the fight to save the boy, and at one point her life.
Daddario definitely impressed in this film, as it reached the screens and was reasonably successful with revenues of about 10 million dollars, against a budget of a fifth of that. The film was slow and violent, for better or for worse, and received generally reasonable reviews.
Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013)
Continuing with Alexandra Daddario’s most famous horror film, the one from the beginning of the article: “Texas Chainsaw 3D” (or in English: “Texas Chainsaw 3D”). I saw the movie at home, so I can’t say too much about the 3D in it, even if you can easily recognize the scenes that are supposed to cause this “wow” effect.
Daddario plays Heather in the leading role, alongside quite familiar names such as Scott Eastwood and Tania Raymonde.
Heather is also the long-lost granddaughter of one known as “Leatherface.” When she inherits a mansion from her grandmother, she quickly discovers a not-very-pleasant surprise in the house’s basement. From here begins a cat-and-mouse chase, in which Leatherface, in his current version, and his relatives begin to slaughter Heather and her friends. At some point, there is a twist, and Heather makes a rather strange decision about her future.
It’s hard to say that this film is one of the most successful in the beloved franchise, which spawned a masterful first film, some pretty bad sequels as well as reboots and remakes, such as “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” from 2003 starring Jessica Bale (which, in my opinion, is the most successful of the franchise’s films, after the original movie).
The plot of “Texas Chainsaw 3D” is very problematic, with holes like a corpse going through a stabbing journey by a brutal serial killer. The scares are predictable, and the acting is just above average . But for those looking for a film that draws inspiration and includes a few nods to the masterpiece, with some gore and one sexy Alexandra Daddario, this could be worth a one-time viewing.
Burying The Ex (2014)
The truth is that watching “Burying The Ex” today is somehow tragic due to the brutal death of the film’s star, Anton Yelchin, in a self-inflicted accident that looks like it came out of the script of the “Final Destination” franchise. Before his death, Yelchin made some solid horror films, including this film that we already included in the list of romantic horror movies.
In “Burying The Ex,” Yelchin plays Max, a horror buff who works in a trick and costume shop. Max has a particularly voluptuous girlfriend (Ashley Green, who has also done some horror movies that will someday give her a place in this section of the site), with one big problem: she is a total bitch.
Therefore, when she is run over to death by a bus, shortly after the couple moves in together and before Max plans to break up with her because she is a total bitch, it is hard to say that the viewers feel sadness.
However, Max feels guilty about the death. He tries to move on with his life and develops a relationalship with the lovely Olivia (Daddario), who runs a lovable ice cream shop with a horror concept. Very quickly Evelyn comes back from the dead, determined to make Max’s life miserable and kill Olivia, and anyone who gets in the way of the couple staying forever and ever, happily ever after and blah blah blah. And yes, it turns out that zombie bitch is even more terrible than in a regular beach.
“Burying the Ex,” directed by Joe Dante (“Gremlins,” the original “Piranha” and “The Howling”), received very negative reviews. Despite many, many problems, for example, at the level of the script and direction – this is a horror comedy that is not really funny or too scary – in my opinion, this is a film that can give horror fans a little less than an hour and a half of guilty pleasure, as long as you don’t take it seriously.
We Summon The Darkness (2019)
In 2019, Daddario starred in “We Summon The Darkness,” a horror thriller set in the late 1980s. She played Alexis Butler, a charismatic and rebellious young woman who travels to the Heavy Metal concert with her two friends (Maddie Hasson and Amy Forsyth). They meet three men and invite them to Alexis’ isolated mansion. What seems like a fantasy to the boys quickly turns into a nightmare when they discover that they are part of a terrible plan: the girls want to murder them and make it look like a cult operation, which is a little out of control.
Overall, “We Summon the Darkness” received decent reviews, with a 68% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a reasonable 5.2 rating on IMDB. It was a relatively successful combination of horror and humor, said some interesting things about religious fanaticism and metal music (topics relevant to the world of horror), and presented impressive performances, including the one by Daddario. The film is not a masterpiece, but may be enough to satisfy Daddario’s fans.
Alexandra Daddario Is Doing Horror On TV
Alexandra Daddario has taken part in several television series, some of which are hits. She played a supporting role in three episodes of the fifth season of “American Horror Story: Hotel,” as Natasha Rumbova, the second wife of silent film star Rudolph Valentino, who maintained a polygamous relationship system – including a short threesome scene – with Valentino’s lover, the “Countess” Elizabeth Johnson (Lady Gaga). We won’t go into the twists and turns of the plot here. We’ll say that Natasha’s character died in it more than once.
In early 2023, Daddario began starring in the lead role in the series “Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches,” based on the trilogy of novels by Anne Rice. We have yet to see this gothic horror series, which deals with a neurosurgeon who discovers that she is the scion of a line of witches, is hunted by evil creatures, and has to deal with the demons of the past. The nine series episodes aired on AMC and were not a bad success at all, despite average reviews. It has been announced that the series will return for a second season, including Daddario, although not too much information is known yet – it maybe a good time to complete the first season at some point.
