Vampire Treatment (PRP): Not Entirely Dracula’s, But Has Its Benefits

It was supposed to be simple. The not-so-young girl, already showing signs of aging, was browsing Instagram. She had heard about the vampire treatment technique. She had seen Hollywood’s best influencers and celebrities flaunting it, taking pictures after treatments with blood on their faces and a million-dollar smile as if they had just returned from spending time between the sheets with a hot vampire from “Twilight.” She wanted to be like them and, most importantly, look young. So, she made a few phone calls, eventually bringing her to Dr. Vlad’s clinic in Romania. “I’ll make you younger,” he said when she met him, with a disturbing smile. A few minutes later, Dr. Vlad leaned over her neck and kissed her. “What the hell are you doing?” she managed to scream before his fangs sank into her neck. “From now on, you will stay young… forever,” he laughed like a horror villain in a bad movie while she managed to glance in the mirror. The face that looked back at her was full of blood. The last thing she did before passing on to eternal life was upload a selfie to Instagram.

The truth is that this story didn’t happen. However, it is based on a therapeutic method that is somehow related to vampires and has become very popular, even at the level of a trend. Despite their ominous name, Vampire facial treatments are considered relatively safe and do not involve meeting real vampires. Moreover, experts use our natural blood for various treatment purposes, such as improving appearance, healing, and even reducing hair loss. All this makes it one of the hottest trends in the field of beauty, one that celebrities like horror icon Megan Fox, American media personality Kim Kardashian, actress Angelina Jolie, and Israeli supermodel Bar Refaeli are proud of making. And yes, it is a treatment reminiscent of the vampire mythology we all grew up with.

So, what is the main principle of vampire treatment? How can blood from the body rejuvenate the skin and help the body? And who exactly is it suitable for?

What Is Vampire Facial Treatment?

Vampire facial treatment (Vampire Facelift), known by its scientific name PRP therapy – an abbreviation for Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy – is a standard cosmetic medical procedure, mainly in anti-aging and skin rejuvenation.

The main principle is that the Vampire Facelift uses the patient’s blood to encourage tissue healing and regeneration. The process of the treatment, and especially the appearance of the patients in the minutes after the treatment, explains what the connection is with those blood-sucking horror creatures, identified in horror films with eternal life, impressive beauty, and bad acting (well, that’s probably less relevant here). Still, as we can see in Vampire Costumes for women, these creatures are defined chiefly as sexy.

The process itself lasts about half an hour. It begins with taking a blood sample from the patient, similar to a standard blood test but in a larger quantity, usually about six test tubes. The twist is that the blood undergoes an enrichment process. Using specialized equipment, the doctor separates the different parts of the blood and mainly separates the liquid known as PRP from it. As a result, we get plasma with an exceptionally high amount of platelets, essential blood cells that play a central role in vital processes such as blood clotting and healing.

In the next step, the enriched blood is injected back into the body in the specific area you want to treat (usually the face, but not always). The expert can do this with a “regular” syringe or, in a more advanced method, using an injection gun or a specialized device.

The advanced equipment nowadays allows complete flexibility in performing the PRP injection, for example, accessing different areas or choosing between different speeds and depths of blood introduction into the body, according to the goals of the treatment.

How Can Blood Improve Our Physical Appearance?

Blood flows inside our body and is the “fluid of life.” However, it also has different properties for external use. Platelets contain biologically active substances that can encourage cell renewal, the creation of new blood vessels, and improvement in skin texture.

The PRP injection can refresh, renew, and tighten the skin, thus giving it a younger, more impressive appearance. In other words, unlike choosing a vampire costume or certain types of makeup, you won’t get a vampire-like appearance here. On the other hand, PRP treatment for face (and other skin areas) is based on blood and corresponds to a certain extent with our desire for eternal life, or at least for an appearance that remains youthful over time.

PRP treatment is not only intended for women, with the list of famous men who have undergone it including Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods, who may or may not be related to the world of sports. Patients in their 30s or 40s usually perform it, but in cosmetics, age only plays a role in some cases.

In most cases, we will perform vampire treatment on the face, but of course, it can also be performed on other areas: the neck, chest, limbs, and even the hair, as we will see later.

🧛 Anti-aging, emphasizing eliminating wrinkles, stretch marks, and other “symptoms” of age. The treatment can be used instead of or in conjunction with other therapies we tend to do for these purposes, with the main advantage being that the treatment is natural and relatively safe.

From Orthopedics To Hair Loss: Additional Uses Of Vampire Therapies

Despite its dramatic name, vampire therapy is a science-based medical procedure. It has been studied and is used in various medical fields that go beyond the world of aesthetics.

Among other things, we use today vampire treatments for the following purposes:

🧛 Orthopedic PRP treatment to deal with tears, tendonitis, and so on

🧛 Accelerating natural healing after various injuries

🧛 Slowing down degenerative processes in the body

🧛 Hair loss -PRP hair treatment may encourage the growth of new hair, strengthen existing hair follicles, and effectively treat hair loss and baldness in both men and women

Please note that the effectiveness of facial vampire treatment may vary from person to person and between different conditions. In addition, in many cases, a series of treatments over time is required to achieve the desired results. Vampires are not yet magicians.

The Benefits Of Vampire Therapy

The question we must ask in this situation is whether vampire therapy is really considered adequate and recommended for the body, or is it perhaps another baseless trend of the social media era, which celebrities and influencers promote to promote themselves (financially, for example)?

On the positive side, you don’t have to be an expert in the field to understand that the treatment is relatively safe, at least as long as it is performed by experts in the field and with the help of standard equipment. The main advantage is that the treatment here uses a natural component found in all of our bodies (even if after specific improvement processes) and prevents the need to use the surgeon’s knife, with all its disadvantages and potential harm. The treatment uses our blood and not other components that may be toxic or dangerous in certain situations, such as Botox.

In some ways, contrary to its threatening name and unlike some of the other aesthetic treatments performed today, vampire therapy is not considered invasive or painful. If you do it by the book, there shouldn’t be any significant side effects or risks. Yes, there may be an unpleasant burning sensation during the treatment, or symptoms such as swelling and redness may appear in the treated area, but these symptoms will usually go away on their own within a few days.

And what about the effect of the treatment? You might be disappointed if you thought that following the vampire myth would give you a look that would last forever, or that before and after pictures of vampire treatment would show a 180-degree change. The change can be significant, but it is not an ultimate shift in your appearance.

On the positive side, you should see the treatment results in the following weeks, with a period of up to a month being reasonable. The results of the treatment can last for a period ranging from six months to a year or even a bit longer, which is undoubtedly impressive.

Disadvantages Of PRP Treatment For Face

If you’ve ever seen vampire movies, you probably already know that becoming a blood-sucking creature with eternal life comes at a price, which is far from simple. Accordingly, there are some disadvantages of the treatment that are worth knowing.

The first point is that the treatment is not suitable for everyone. There are people who, from a practical point of view, cannot undergo it, especially people with skin diseases, skin lesions that require examination, or people whose blood supply is problematic, for example, those who regularly use blood-thinning medications to deal with various medical conditions. For them, bloodletting can be devastating and, in severe cases, even life-threatening.

The treatment may deter some people. Its name is intimidating, but the lower resolutions of the process may also seem problematic on paper. Not everyone can undergo bloodletting, and many are disgusted by those pictures of celebrities with faces full of blood. People who are afraid of procedures like bloodletting or those who are fearful of needles – and this is a more common fear than you might think – may also prefer not to do it.

How Much Vampire Treatment Cost?

Another barrier is the price of the treatments, which can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Such amounts are not cheap, which may also seem “too” high, given that the treatment is relatively short, primarily since its results are only maintained for a specific period. Unlike “real” vampires, it is not ageless.

You can understand the PRP injection cost when considering how it is performed and its high demand.
