Seven In Hell: The Death March Continues, with “Final Destination 7” Anounced | Coming Soon
Following the success of the sixth film, Warner Bros.’ New Line Cinema has announced a seventh installment in the “Final Destination” franchise, with some initial details now available. So, who will write the script (one of the writers of the last film)? What are the expected changes in the cast (still unknown, but we’ll likely see a lot of new names)? And when can we expect to see the film start breaking the box office?
All the information about “Final Destination 7” is in this article, which we are hoping to update soon.
Will There Be A Final Destination 7? YES!
If you missed the sixth film of “Final Destination”, then first of all, catch it up because it’s a hell of a fun movie. It arrived about 25 years after the first film in the franchise and about 14 years after the fifth, which explains why many horror fans (like the writer of these lines) have been waiting for it with anticipation.
The wait was probably worth it, as the film received rave reviews and grossed more than $285 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing in this franchise. Equally impressive, the film helped the Final Destination films surpass $950 million in worldwide revenue, putting the franchise on course to exceed $1 billion in revenue. As of this writing, it’s the sixth-highest-grossing horror franchise in history, behind “The Conjuring”, “Alien”, “Resident Evil, “It,” and “Saw.”
Therefore, the fact that “Final Destination 7” was announced so soon is far from surprising.
Who Will Write Final Destination 7?
The first “casting” we’ve heard about is behind the keyboard. Lori Evans Taylor, who wrote “Final Destination: Bloodlines” with Guy Busick, will once again take on the writing duties, with no other writer currently in place. She will join several of the producers of the previous film, including Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Jon Watts, Dianne McGunigle, and Toby Emmerich, with Warren Zeid as executive producer.
Lori Evans Taylor, 50, has been a busy name in horror cinema in recent years. In 2022, she wrote and directed “Bed Rest,” a horror drama starring Melissa Barrera (“Scream 5,” “Scream 6,” “Abigail,” “Your Monster”), about a pregnant woman who begins to wonder if her house is haunted, or if she’s suffering from a particular type of terrifying “Momnesia”. In 2024, Evans Taylor co-wrote with Sam Scott “Cellar Door”, a somewhat sketchy horror thriller – a bit of a family drama, to be honest – about a real estate deal that’s probably too good to be true. Both of these films received average reviews, at best, and were released mainly for viewing on home media.
Lori Evans Taylor also wrote the film adaptation of Carla Norton’s novel “Edge of Normal,” which is currently in post-production. The story focuses on a girl who is kidnapped and held captive, but manages to escape. She tries to rebuild her life with the help of a psychiatrist who specializes in captive syndromes – until the moment she is asked to try to help another young woman recover and fight for her life against a mysterious criminal. Chloë Grace Moretz will star in the lead role in the film, which would be the first English-language movie for Spanish director Carlota Perede (“Piggy”).
Another project Taylor is working on is the adaptation of the novel “I Am Still Alive” by Kate Alice Marshal, a survival journey of an injured girl named Jess in the Canadian wilderness, after a car accident that killed her mother. The girl moves to her father’s cabin, with whom she has lost contact, but soon loses him too. When the cabin burns down, Jess must fight for her life. The story reportedly brings together “The Revenant” with “Wild” – a successful 2012 book that turned into a film, for which Reese Witherspoon received an Oscar, or even horror slasher “Hatchet”. “I Am Still Alive” is expected to be produced and directed by none other than Ben Affleck.
What Else Should We Know About The Film?
In the coming months, we will likely receive more information about the director, the plot, or even the cast that is taking shape. Similar to the other films in the franchise, and as the plot of the sixth film suggests (no spoilers), it is likely that we will see a completely new story here, with new characters, except for some possible guest appearances.
In this context, it is possible to recall an interesting quote from Perry, who was one of the producers of each of the films in the franchise. He noted that the combination of multiple timelines in the last movie had increased the number of creative possibilities for building the story. “That’s why this franchise is weirdly evergreen, because we don’t have necessarily continuing characters, so you can jump around, “he said, “and the whole point of it is that it’s relatable, they’re in environments and situations that you might find yourself in”.
Of course, there’s no official poster yet (we made the image at the top of the post using AI tools), plot details, and, of course, a trailer.
When Is Final Destination 7 Coming Out?
Right now, just after “Final Destination 7” was confirmed, it’s still very early to estimate when we’ll get to see “Final Destination 7” in theaters. Conservative estimates say the release date of the film would be sometime in 2027, and to us, that kind of timeline makes a lot of sense.
We’ll update when we know more details, but fans of the series can already sit back and start counting the days, or rather the years, until death comes knocking on our door again.
