It took about a month, but the highly acclaimed Tim Burton sequel -which grossed over 400 million dollars worldwide - is now on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and more.

The DVD should be released on November 19.

Ti West’s "X" trilogy is making its way to the p

Ti West’s "X" trilogy is making its way to the paper, with three official novelizations expected soon: “X” (September 24), “Pearl” (19 November), and “MAXXXINE”(early 2025).

Surprisingly, the books won’t be written by Mia Goth. Alternatively, Tim Waggoner - one of the best horror novelists today, with three Bram Stoker Awards - takes the job.

Waggoner already adapted several horror films into novels, including “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” and “Halloween Kills” (hopefully, they are better than the movies!). Waggoner also working on a “Terrifier 2” novelization, and it should hit the shelves on Halloween, a few weeks after the cinematic release of “Terrifier 3”.

Does Megan become M3gan?

Megan Fox will star in “Subservience,” a science fiction thriller directed by S.K. Dale (who worked with Fox on “Till Death”’).

Megan will play Alice, an artificially intelligent gynoid purchased by a struggling father (Michele Morrone, “365 Days” movies), to help take care of his house and family following a disease of his wife (Madeline Zima). But soon Alice gains awareness and becomes seductive, and deadly.

“Subservience” may look like a darker version of “M3GAN”, and it got an R rating (including sexuality and nudity, which is not surprising considering the cast). Based on the description and trailer, I am really not sure it will be good, but surely it can be fun.

The movie is expected to be released on digital platforms on September 13.

Every year, we celebrate Clown Week on the first week of August. This is an excellent opportunity to talk about the fear of clowns, Coulrophobia, which is more common than you think.

DSM-IV doesn't officially express the fear (in fact, the term "Coulrophobia" isn't official either) but primarily refers to it within the broader world of fear of costumed characters. It is possible to claim that the fear of clowns, which sometimes reaches the level of phobia, may cause adverse effects on both the body and the mind, from physical symptoms to behavioral changes (like avoiding mass events that may include clowns).

The fear of clowns may arise from a mix of factors. With their colorful attire, exaggerated makeup, and odd behavior, clowns deviate from our usual expectations. Turning to an unfamiliar area in appearance or behavior can cause fear or even natural anxiety in many, mainly children. Traumatic experiences, like a scary clown encounter at a birthday party, can also contribute. Scary clown pranks, which have become popular recently, may also create fear.

According to some theories, horror movies and TV may "help" create this fear, with some scary clown characters and films: Pennywise, Art the Clown, Captain Spaulding, and the strangler clown from "Poltergeist" being common examples. Even some children's movies have scenes involving scary clowns, like "Inside Out," while many programs show characters dealing with a fear of clowns ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer" "Seinfeld," "Modern Family," "One Tree Hill," and more).

So, Fear of Clowns is not a joke!

A Quiet Place: Day one is available to watch at home this week!

The third installment in "A Quiet Place" franchise is a spin-off and a prequel to the recent films. It follows an ill woman trying to survive the first stages of the invasion of extraterrestrial killer creatures - who cannot see, but hear well enough - in New York City.

The movie was written and directed by Michael Sarnoski ("Pig"). It stars the Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave", "US"), Joseph Quinn (Eddie in "Stranger Things"), and Djimon Hounsou, the survivor from the previous film.

A Quiet Place: Day One" became a great success at the box office, reaching 250 million dollars worldwide this weekend, and got pretty good reviews (87% Tomatometer, 68 Metascore).

Shudder and IFC Films announced "In a Violent Nature 2" and released its first teaser poster.

This Canadian horror slasher "In a Violent Nature" premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and was released in the USA at the end of May. It follows Johnny, a mute and masked killer, who is accidentally resurrected from his grave by a group of teenagers. So, he stalks and brutally kills them in the Canadian wilderness.

Interestingly, most of the movie is from the POV of the killer. It is considered a slow burner, with long shots, no music, and other "artistic" choices. Writer and Director Chris Nash said he was influenced by creators like Gus Van Sant and Terrence Malick.

"In a Violent Nature" got some great reviews, but it's not probably the slasher that any horror fan would connect easily.

The sixth installment in The Exorcist franchise got pretty negative reviews but did well at the box office, with more than 136 million dollars worldwide. So, at times when collectibles of horror characters are released right after the film or even before it ("Alien: Romulus," for example), this decision looks easy.

The official teaser trailer of "Terrifier 3" is here!

It definitely shows the mood of the film, which looks darker and full of gore and humor (as you could expect, based on the previous movies in the franchise and the hints by director Damien Leone).

Surprisingly, it doesn't give too much of the plot, which is a plus nowadays ("Abigail," anybody?)

The movie will hit theaters on October 11.

From the poster, you can see clearly that Damien Leone chose a different direction this time. Quite surprisingly, I think we will get a feel-good Christmas movie, perhaps the best since Frank Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life" from 1946.

The poster shows Art the Clown (Clowns always resemble joy and happiness) and Veronica (with a splendid makeover after giving birth. I couldn't recognize her!). They look so in love, dressed in their best holiday clothes, Smiling, waving at the camera. Veronica even blushes all over and opens her eyes with excitement, while Art "accidentally" hugs her (I wonder what Sienna, "The Angel," will have to say about that!).

To signify that we will be getting a heartwarming holiday movie, the poster is full of typical Christmas symbols: the decorated tree, the twinkling lights, and of course, Santa Claus, who is probably resting after making dozens of children happy.

Moreover, The poster's dominant color is red, which not only resembles Christmas but is also known as the color of love, passion, and life.

Remember the fantastic scene in "Annie Hall", when Woody Allen stands in a movie theater line near a professor who analyzing Marshall McLuhan's legacy for minutes, trying to impress a girl?

The scene when Allen breaks the fourth wall and confronts the annoying guy, telling him he knows anything about McLuhan's work? And later, he calls McLuhan himself, who tells the guy his whole fallacy is wrong, and that he shouldn't teach anything?

So, John Carpenter reminded me of this scene. He responded directly to a piece of false information about "Halloween," calling it "total bullshit."

If life were only like this always.

Into The Deep (2022) Movie Review -

I really like shark movies. Too shame they have become too predictable, so I can easily tell how the film will develop just by its name, the poster, or, at worst, the first scenes.

When I saw "Into the Deep," without prior knowledge about it, I knew what to expect. The story follows Jess (Elle Ray Smith, "The Commuter," "Seance"), a young girl traumatized by her past. She meets a handsome guy (Matthew Daddario, "Cabin Fever"), and you can see the sparks.

After a party, Jess arrives at his yacht and falls asleep. When she wakes up, she discovers he decided to take her to the heart of the sea without asking. Still, they have sex and fall in love. Everything seemed bright, but I knew they would soon be lost, attacked, and unable to contact the world.

Indeed, something hit the ship, and I yelled at joy, dancing the Baby Shark dance. At last, I got my damn shark!

Damn, I was wrong. The one who crashed the ship is a passed-out girl on a jet ski named Lexie (Jessica Alexander), who doesn't remember how she got there. After a wild night, the three wake up, but something is wrong. Lexie captures the guy, swearing he did something to her, which might be related to something else he did to someone else some time.

The viewer steps into the heroine's shoes, trying to understand what happened, who is lying, and if the new bitch is crazy. It looks like a combination of a sex crime trial, thriller, romantic drama, and rarely a horror movie.

"Into the Deep" has many problems. Its pace is uneven, with too much weight on the heroine's past, without adequate treatment. The film is slow in the first part and too fast in the second part, resulting in some plot holes and scenes where the characters behave irrationally, sometimes even stupidly.

On the other hand, the movie was sexy and enjoyable at times, and the first-time director Kate Cox sometimes used well the minimal cast, location, and budget.

It's just a shame they didn't put a shark in it.

Immaculate (2024) - Movie Review

Judging by the media and social media buzz, Sydney Sweeney is about to take over the world. Becoming a scream queen is a big step forward.

After doing some relatively insignificant horror films at the beginning of her career, she tried to prove in "Immaculate" that she is connected to the genre. In the promotional videos, she talked about her favorite scary movies and even tried pretty well to recognize famous screams.

Sweeney, who also produced the film with her company, joined once again director Michael Mohan ("The Voyeurs"). Sweeney plays Cecilia, who, following a past trauma, discovers God. She arrives at a pastoral Italian convent and finds that terrible acts are happening beneath the surface.

After appearing primarily in minimal clothing in "Anyone But You" (according to my wife. I only watch horror!), Sweeney steps into the nun outfit. She manages to be sexy even in nun clothes. In fact, she is so sexy that she gets pregnant without having sex! Later, we will understand that there is some conspiracy that is possibly related to a nail.

On the positive side, we get quite a convincing atmosphere, impressive photography, and fine acting by Sweeney and the cast, which mainly includes Italian names.

"Immaculate" suffers from several significant problems. Its pace could be more consistent, and the script has its flaws. Above all, there are too many predictable jump scares, and just a few scenes are exciting or thrilling.

You can easily see "Immaculate" was influenced by movies like "The Omen," "Rosemary's Baby," and the works of Ari Astar, one of Sweeney's favorite directors. It tries to say something about many topics, like religion, sacrifice, and the objectification of the female body by essentially male institutions, only sometimes convincingly.

"Immaculate" is worth watching, mainly because of Sweeney's performance. The final scene is a great acting display, possibly explaining why she could be a scream queen someday.

Robert Englund and John Carpenter are getting stars on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame!

Englund, who played Freddy Krueger in "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies (excluding the 2010 movie), received this honor alongside another horror legend, director John Carpenter ("Halloween", "The Thing"), and other super anonymous people I have never heard of, like David Beckham, Jane Fonda, late Prince, and Fran Drescher.

“Woke up this morning (cue Sopranos theme) (just joking) to discover I’m in great company in the Hollywood Walk of Fame class of 2025. Just to hear my name mentioned alongside Jane Fonda and Prince makes my old heart go pit-a-pat!”, Englund wrote on his Twitter account.

"Star on The Hollywood walk of fame?? There must be some mistake”, Carpenter responded the night the news came in.

An evil Peter Pan is flying towards us! The team

An evil Peter Pan is flying towards us!

The team behind the "Poohniverse" - mostly cheap horror versions about famous characters that entered the public domain - is making "Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare". The movie will present a dark version of Peter Pan, which was created back in 1902, without the famous Disney iteration (which is still copyrighted).

According to "Bloody Disgusting," who got the official poster art, the movie will focus on Wendy as she tries to save her brother from a sinister Peter Pan. Along the way, she will meet a stoned Tinkerbell, who just took heroine, thinking it is pixie dust (I really hate when it happens!).

The movie will be directed by Scott Jeffrey, who promised Bloody Disgusting: "This is onally an extremely darker film to Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey."
"Peter Pan is the most vicious of them all", he added. "He is twisted, cruel, and cunning.”

Here is the poster of "Smile 2", also known as "Smile Deluxe".

As with the first film, which was the highest-grossing horror movie of 2022, Parker Finn is responsible for writing and directing. Naomi Scott ("Aladdin," "Charlie's Angels," "Power Rangers") will star in the leading role alongside Kyle Gallner, who will reprise his role as Joel.

The plot follows a pop star named Skye Riley (Scott, in a short blonde haircut) who encounters a chain of strange events during her musical tour. These events are apparently related to people giving creepy smiles before harming themselves or others.

At the same time, Paramount released the first trailer of "Smile Deluxe."

"Smile 2" will hit theaters on October 18, 2024.
